i love sanyo enloops as much as a love me some high lumen light bulbs. now they have a cheaper, cuter looking enloop. its perfect cause i dont use enloops on low drain devices like remotes but these are perfect. there is something about them that just make me happy. i totally get why Mr. Weasley collects muggle stuff.

Symbian^3 preview. looks nice. androidy with some nice pre looking multitasking UI. Not sure about the skinny widgets though. prefer a more finger friendly square. cant wait to see what the new windows phone UI is going to look like. i want me some xbox live integration already or a new sidekick.

Apropos of I’m not sure anything, the screen on this thing, at 1024x768, has an aspect ratio of 4:3. Chairman Gruber opined on Twitter a month ago (speaking of his iPhone’s video camera), “Who wants 4:3 video nowadays?” And I have to admit, my expectation for the iPad (pause for giggle, pause for mental image, pause for shudder) was that as time went on, our screens would get closer to 16:9, not further.

But it was clear in the device’s orientation when Steve first pulled it out, and in the orientation of the Apple logo on the back, that the iPad (…) is meant primarily to be used in portrait mode, that its function as a video device is really secondary to its function as a reading device. And 9:16 is now, and will probably always be too damn skinny for a screen.

As you can see above, an iPad screen in portrait is equivalent in aspect ratio to two iPhone screens stacked in landscape mode. What does this mean? Put two and two together, man. Do I have to spell it out for you?

UPDATE: Fine. Apparently, I have to spoon-feed you people. It’s about the inherent duality of man and his finite and structured capacity for self-love. Bicameral duplex onanism and okay I got nothing.

-wouldn’t it have been cool to have one in school. Apple has just made college futuristic.

-yes being an apple user makes you feel like a scientologist, and everyone really wants to see apple fail at something. we want another under dog story.

-if i gave this to my mom she would instantly know how to use it. millions of old people already know how to use an iphone interface. at virgin i saw old ladies and little kids double tap the screen to zoom in. its stupid but it counts for something.

-yes it doesnt do flash and that sucks big time but shit, if the ipad is successful its going to finally kill flash and a new era of html 5 interwebs will be all simple. and have good design and stuff. thats not so bad. it sucks now cause the internet is not the internet without flash. so the ipad does not have the full internet experience. which is a valid deal breaker for some people.

-just wait. were spoiled americans. we want too much. and we are geeks. honestly even if apple made the perfect product people would still bitch and moan about it. if arcohs or logitech made a $499 tablet that did just really good browsing. id get it.

-its funny how jaded people get when it comes to technology. the iPad is not a computer. its an appliance. its a device that can be what it wants depending on what you need it for. personally i would use it for browsing in my bed. i probly do my browsing 40% on my iMac and 60% a macbook. but thats just me. im a lazy bum. but for other people, doctors, students, sales force, ect. it will be used differently.

-um.. what else. oh ya. its like sure, it doesnt have multitasking, flash, or a front facing camera. but come on. its apple. they fucking took away firewire and then brought it back and said it was a feature. apple is not going to blow its load right at launch. of course theyre not going to have every feature. they are going to do the same thing they did with the iPhone. remember how shitty the iPhone seemed. no 3G, no apps, no ad2p bluetooth, expensive as shit.

-the awesome thing is that the ipad will do the same thing its done for the iphone has done to the mobile phone industry. i want logitech, iriver, lenovo, and dell to make a tablet. plus they will all be sub $499. :-) the more tablets the better.
